About

Dr. Mohamed S. Hamed is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University and Founding Director of the McMaster Thermal Processing Laboratory (MAC-TPL). He also serves as Adjunct Professor in the Energy Systems Department at Bahcesehir University, Turkey. His current research focuses on transport phenomena in thermal engineering systems.

Dr. Hamed has over 40 years of applied engineering experience, including 32 years of university teaching, and has supervised more than 140 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and research associates. He also develops and delivers professional development short courses through CANETCO to practising engineers across Canada and internationally. He has delivered multiple keynote lectures internationally, holds a US Patent, and serves on editorial boards of 8 peer-reviewed journals - including as Editor-in-Chief of the Universal Journal of Mechanical Engineering. Recipient of the Dean's Teaching Honor Roll (2018 and 2020).

CANETCO - Canadian Engineering Training Company

Dr. Hamed is the founder of CANETCO (Canadian Engineering Training Company) - a professional development organization offering engineering short courses and training seminars to practising engineers across Canada and internationally. These courses bridge the gap between academic rigour and the applied knowledge and practical experience required for practising engineering.

CANETCO courses are designed for engineers seeking Professional Development Hours (PDH) and are eligible toward PEO's PEAK continuing education requirements. Topics include HVAC systems, heat exchangers, piping, energy management, and more.
