Invention & Patent

💡 US Patent No. 6,929,670 B1

Hamed, M. S. and Van Geyn, A., "Sand Separating Apparatus for a Thermal Sand Removal Oven" - United States Patent, August 16, 2005.

An innovative system for separating solid particles (>100 μM) from solid-gas mixtures using inertia/impact separation. Developed to address severe wear and mechanical damage in re-circulating fans of aluminum heat-treating furnaces in the automotive industry - caused by foundry sand mixed with re-circulating flue gases. In a typical facility, fan replacements and downtime cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. This invention achieves separation efficiencies of 60–80% and enabled CAN-ENG to offer a one-year warranty on re-circulating fans, up from the typical two-month service life previously encountered.
